GTL: “Natural Hair Is So of the Moment,” Said Guido Palau for Proenza Schouler SS’24
Guido Palau and Bumble and Bumble partner up to bring an “effortless, carefree and ‘undone’ chic appearance.”
When I think of iconic runway hair, I immediately think of the legendary hairstylist, Guido Palau. Guido’s career began in the early 90s when he decided to focus on becoming an editorial hairstylist. Throughout Guido’s career, he has worked with some of the biggest supermodels, fashion houses, and magazines in the world.
If you consider yourself a fashion enthusiast, it would be impossible for you to have not come across his work. Guido has been described as, “The world’s most in-demand hair stylist.”
He has created the hairstyles seen on the runways of fashion houses including Prada, Balenciaga, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, Alexander McQueen, and many more.
This fashion season, Guido continued to work his magic for the Spring/Summer ’24 Proenza Schouler NYFW runway show. He shared some thoughts backstage at the Proenza Schouler SS’24 show and said,
“Natural hair is so of the moment. We are embracing a nod to the 90s
a trend towards minimal, simple graphic hair but bringing it up to 2024 to embrace natural texture and individuality. Simplicity is made special by using our fingers with the right products to place parts and styling to give a natural and effortless look, suited to the faces of each model.”
Using all Bumble and Bumble products, Guido was able to create an effortless yet chic look for each model’s hair texture. While some of the models wore a chic low-bun wrapped in black hair twine, others wore their gently blow-dried natural textures. Take a peek below to see exactly how Guido brought this runway look to life.

TIPS AND TECHNIQUES
Hair journeys started with a clean slate, with Bumble and Bumble Shampoos and Conditioners tailored to each hair type and need.
Then, Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer is misted before styling to add heat protection and moisture to hair. Gently blow-dry hair on warm to bring out an effortless, carefree, and ‘undone’ chic appearance.
A light touch of Seaweed Air Dry Cream is worked into the ends to add nourishment and effortless elegance.
The two looks on models showcased natural hair texture and chic simplicity in two ways.
- Models wore their hair out with careful finger parting and placement around the face.
- Models also wore hair in buns that were gathered by black hair twine wrapped around the bun at the nape of the neck.
The look is finished with Spray de Mode hairspray for a flexible, moveable hold.
