Freestyle Digital Media Acquires Dramatic Comedy ‘The Road Dog’ for October Release
This October 6, 2023, buckle up for a heartwarming yet hilarious ride as Freestyle Digital Media drops the stand-up comedy-focused comedy-drama feature film The Road Dog.
The film follows an aging, alcoholic comedian named Jimmy Quinn, a veteran of stand-up comedy’s glory days.
When his long-estranged son, David, also an aspiring comedian, seeks him out, Jimmy offers to take him on the road and show him the ropes of the comedy circuit as he knew it. While their father-son relationship brews, tensions rise due to Jimmy’s self-destructive behavior, and ultimately, he must decide what he values most.
Directed, written, and produced by Meet The Parents creator Greg Glienna, The Road Dog was also written and produced by Tony Boswell, along with producers Kamron Leal, Yasuein Paradise, Doug Stanhope, and Brian Hennigan.
The features cast includes Doug Stanhope (The Man Show, Roseanne, Louie), Khrystyne Haje (Law & Order, Head of the Class), Tim Kazurinsky (Saturday Night Live, Police Academy series), Greg Fitzsimmons (Crashing, Louie), Calvin Evans (Chicago P.D.), and newcomer Des Mulrooney.
Speaking on their acquisition deal with Freestyle Digital Media, filmmaker Greg Glienna said,
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Freestyle Digital Media on the release of The Road Dog. Our mission at CEM Productions is to bring great scripts to life with relatable human stories and no characters in spandex!”
The Road Dog will be available on streaming, starting on October 6. Learn more at the movie’s official website.
