Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Brands Supporting the Cause
October is not just about the autumnal vibes
it’s also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This special month sees various brands stepping up to support the cause, making a positive difference in the lives of many. Let’s dive deep into some of the fashion brands making strides against breast cancer this year.1. Betsey Johnson X Happy Hippie Foundation Collaboration
In her continued collaboration with Miley Cyrus’s Happy Hippie Foundation, Betsey Johnson is launching a heartfelt initiative in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This partnership seeks to bolster awareness and offer resources for both prevention and treatment.
Having battled and overcome breast cancer herself, with remission since 1999, Betsey is spearheading a digital campaign to disseminate accurate information on breast cancer. She invites her vast network to participate in this vital discourse. By sharing her personal journey, addressing widespread myths, and enlightening her followers, Betsey offers an avenue for her fans to contribute.
To back this cause, the fashion icon of the Y2K era will donate $1 to the Happy Hippie Foundation for each purchase made from the pink collection on her website. Featured items include some of Betsey’s cherished designs that champion individuality and inner shine.
Highlights from the collection are the glitzy Rhinestone Boxing Glove, the whimsical Kitsch Bear Necessity Crossbody Bag, the vibrant Della Floral Bootie, and many more. Shoppers are also encouraged to add a donation with any purchase they make.
2. Lively’s Empowerment Movement
Lively brought their community together, emphasizing the importance of unity, mutual support, listening, and the shared objective of encouraging health checks. Those who were around on October 15 hopefully joined us at Central Park for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in NYC.
At the event, Lively proudly presented the ‘Wall of Hope’ booth, a tribute to everyone touched by breast cancer. Participants had the opportunity to register for the walk or generously contribute at the booth. In gratitude, every donor received a pink ribbon card to personalize
be it with their own name or in memory of someone special. These cards came together to create our touching Wall of Hope. For those outside of NYC, Lively made it easy to support the cause. Pink-themed merchandise was available both online and in-store. Throughout the month of October, a percentage of the net proceeds from these sales will be contributed to the American Cancer Society.
3. Ettika’s Jewelry for a Cause
On October 1, Ettika, a leading direct-to-consumer jewelry and accessories brand, was thrilled to unveil its collaboration with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. They committed to donating half of the profits from a curated selection of pink-themed styles.
Joey Rafaeli, CEO of Ettika, said,
“We design jewelry to help women look and feel their best
because we know a woman’s best accessory is her confidence. We hope this partnership will continue that sentiment and bring awareness and funds for a cure in the process.”
4. Lele Sadoughi’s Continued Commitment
On September 22, Lisa ‘Lele’ Sadoughi proudly marked her third consecutive year supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Come November 2023, and extending into the upcoming year, Lele Sadoughi will persist in her collaboration with the American Cancer Association. This enduring partnership aims to raise awareness about various cancers and emphasizes the brand’s commitment to this significant cause.
Lisa, founder and creative director, said,
“We have expanded our assortment to a jeweled headband with a hand-painted enameled pin hand-sewn next to pink crystals, and matching mini and me hot pink headband with a side bow, and our newest accessory, the awareness ribbon. We have selected the American Cancer Society to receive 25% of the proceeds of this breast cancer awareness capsule. We are working with the Hope Lodge part of the American Cancer Society to help cancer patients access health care.
“As a female-founded business, it’s especially important to highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We are honored to be a part of this initiative with our expanded capsule collection. As a symbol of support, remembrance, and prevention education about breast cancer, we have partnered with the American Cancer Society to create our hand-crafted headbands as well as a jeweled version of the emblematic pink awareness ribbon.”
It’s heartwarming to see so many brands committing to a cause that touches the lives of many. Whether you shop, donate, or simply spread the word, every little action can help make a significant impact. Remember: together we can make a difference!
