Timeless Beats and Tech Treats: Celebrating 40 Years of G-SHOCK

On the evening of Thursday, November 9, 2023, Casio’s iconic watch brand, G-SHOCK, held an exuberant press conference in celebration of its 40th anniversary. The event took place at the Manhattan Center upstairs gallery, which featured a beautiful wall displaying every G-SHOCK watch ever produced in history to date – a perfect space to honor G-SHOCK’s monumental history and feats in combining fashion with cutting-edge technology.

The evening highlighted key speakers, Louis Vito, the event’s moderator, and Kikuo Ibe, the founder of G-SHOCK. Vito took to the stage first to provide attendees with a bit of insight into the conception of the brand, the journey, and a hint of what the brand’s future held in store. Ibe then delivered a remarkable speech where he reminisced with attendees on his first-ever dream of the brand – G-SHOCK’s birth.

Ibe even shared an inspiring short film featuring actors that portrayed younger and older versions of himself – the synopsis of the film being his passionate fight through trials and tribulations, and determination to never give up on his dream.

Right when one may have thought the prestigious night couldn’t possibly have even more to offer, guests were then escorted into a lounge where Columbian superstar J Balvin joined in G-SHOCK’s celebration, giving an electrifying performance featuring his well-known hit, “Mi Gente.” Balvin has always been a fan and supporter of G-SHOCK.

The superstar’s high-energy performance and the connection made with guests were definitely reflective of the high energy and excitement behind the team driving G-SHOCK forward and the connection the brand has solidified with its decades-long loyal clientele base.

To top off the excitement, founder Ibe generously threw various G-SHOCK watches into the crowd for attendees to take home. What a way to showcase the watches’ durability!
