Monét X Change Releases Her First R&B Single Titled “Body”

Monét X Change, a renowned drag performer, singer, and comedian, is reinventing herself as she prepares for the release of her R&B EP titled, “Body,” a switch up from her previous dance-house music.

Her first single off the EP entitled, “Body,” like any good R&B song, is about love, and even better than love, self-love. This song is about the desire for a real connection and realizing what you are worth and deserve. Monét X Change details her desire for real love and intimacy after settling for “surface-level connections and meaningless sexual interactions.”

The singer’s rich and deep vocals carry listeners from a whimsical and sweet-sounding intro into the mid-paced first chorus. With lyrics such as “too many words, and not enough feelings” and “think we lost connection, words with no affection,” it’s sure to have listeners thinking about that one somebody because we all have one. With an endearing melody and chorus, it is a clean first release to set the tone for the rest of the EP and still gives her room to grow and evolve as an artist and songwriter.

It seems Monét X Change is carving herself a place in the R&B genre, as she is now working with Grammy-nominated songwriter Eritza Laues, who has worked with artists such as Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, and producer Cannon Mapp, who has worked with artists Melanie Fiona and Jahiem.

Monét X Change, who has made a name for herself in many realms, including the drag community, as the first Queen of Color inducted into the Hall of Fame after winning Season 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars, a trained opera singer, and the dance-house genre, is now breaking into the world of her first love, R&B, and you don’t want to miss it.

Stay tuned for Monét X Change’s full EP titled “Body,” which is dropping on February 23rd, 2024.
